Shahrukh Khan, a well known bollywood actor, producer and owner of Kolkatta (Knight Riders) team in Indian Premier League (IPL). He is the most saleable actor today. He was born on November 2, 1965, in Talwar Nursing Home (Rajinder Nagar), New Delhi. His sun sign is Scorpio. He is known as King Khan of bollywood. He has established himself as one of the most prominent leading actors of Bollywood.
Shahrukh Khan began his formal education at St. Columba’s High School, New Delhi. Besides academics, he was also good in sports and drama. He won the Sword of Honour, an annual award given to the student who embodies most the spirit of the school. Then he earned an Honors degree in Economics from the Hansraj College (1985-1988). After this he completed his Masters Degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia University. During his childhood he had also acted in Ram Leelas and theaters.
After the death of his parents, he came to Mumbai. In 1991 he married his only love Gauri Khan in a Hindu wedding ceremony before coming into movies. It was not easy for him to marry her as Gauri’s parents were against this marriage, but finally everything settled. Now they have two children, son Aryan (born in 1997) and daughter Suhana (born in 2000).
He started his acting career with television serial “Fauji” in 1988, in which he played the role of Commando Abhimanyu Rai. This role has given him instant recognition. He also acted in another TV serial “Circus”(1989), based upon the life of circus performers. He made his Bollywood film debut in the movie”Deewana” (1992) which was a blockbuster hit and launched him successfully as an actor. He was playing a second actor in this movie but his work was praised.
He won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance in “Baazigar”. Then he never looked back he has won several awards for his outstanding performances in Darr (1994), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Baadshah (1999) …etc. His movies are guarantee of success. In 2003, Khan starred in “Chalte Chalte” along with Rani Mukherjee which was the first successful film for his production company. His production company “Dreamz Unlimited” is shared with other two people,one is director Aziz Mirza and another is actress, co-star Juhi Chawla.
Many prestigious award functions like Filmfare, Stardust and IIFA have always awarded Shahrukh for his commendable performances. He has really come a long way from where he began his life. He has achieved what many just dream of; name, fame and commercial success. He has worked very hard to climb each step. His future projects include much awaited movies like Dhoom -3, Don – 2, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, My Name Is Khan etc.
