Akshay Kumar is a popular bollywood film actor. He was born on September 9, 1967. Originally known as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. He has travelled a long way from a waiter in Bangkok to one of the most successful actor in bollywood. He has come a long way since his entry in the bollywood. He had also learnt martial arts in Hong Kong.
Akshay belongs to a non-filmy family of Amritsar. He has one sister. When he was student he was recommended to try in modeling. The anonymous Rajiv Bhatia began his journey as Akshay Kumar. After succeeding in the modelling field he was soon offered films. He planned to do films out of ordinary. He entered the silver screen with ‘Saugandh’.
Along with his good looks and excellent martial art skills, he was always the first choice to do action movies and he proved to be a superb action hero of the early 90’s. Akshay is also known as the ‘Khiladi Kumar’ for the series of Khiladi movies he worked in. These movies were Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi (1997) and Khiladi 420 (2000).
Akshay also did some romantic movies like “Yeh Dillagi”, “Ek Rishtaa” and “Dhadkan” and he was praised for his performances in these movies. In this way he also proved his versatility. He won his first Filmfare award in 2001 for “ajnabee” under the best villain category.
Akshay had dated number of his co-stars like Pooja Batra, Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon but finally he settled down with Twinkle khanna on 14th January 2001. Twinkle khanna is the elder daughter of the famous couple Dimple and Rajesh Khanna. Now he also has a son named ‘Aarav’.
In 2000 he starred in the comedy “Hera Pheri”(2000) which was a huge success and again proved his versatility. After the success of “Hera Pheri”, he starred in many successful comedy films like “Awara Paagal Deewana” (2002),”Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” (2004) and “Garam Masala” (2005). From a comedian in Hera Pheri, to a serious son in “Waqt: The Race Against Time” (2005), Akshay has consistently showed his talent in whichever role given to him. His talent got him a special place in the hearts of his fans.
Akshay has worked with stars like Amitabh Bachchan,Salman Khan,Preity Zinta, Aishwary Rai and Karisma Kapoor. Now Akshay has come full circle from his debut movie Saugandh.
